Our Personal Alarm Systems

Choosing an alarm is not as simple as it used to be.
Analogue * Digital * Mobile * GPS
Which is the right choice for you or your loved one? Let us help!

Consider….. is there a telephone landline? Is it a standard analogue or a digital line? If it’s digital, is there broadband in the house? Is the line filtered? Where is the phone point? Is the power nearby? Is the person using the alarm likely to be confined to the house & garden? Or do they need protection out and about? Have they had falls? How is their memory?
The answers to these questions and more are important in deciding on the right alarm for your application. Let us help!

Analogue Telephone lines.

Where there is a standard telephone jack point and there is a power point nearby, the traditional ‘button and box’ style alarm works well. Various button designs are available, the pre-programmed button, the stylish and extended range onyx button or falls detector options may be selected. All will link to the emergency response centre who will communicate via the speaker in the base unit to get the necessary help.

Digital Telephone lines.

All telephone lines will be converted to digital in the next few years, so it is important to have digitally enabled devices. Where the line is already digital, the alarm device will connect to the router, and will not need a traditional telephone jack point in the wall. The audio on these devices is first class and this clarity helps where hearing is poor.

No Telephone line.

Where there is no telephone line at all, a mobile device is the alarm of choice – a simple design incorporating an SOS button linked to the emergency response centre and allowing two-way speech through the device. Reliant on a roaming sim card, this is the perfect solution to avoid costly wiring bills.

GPS tracking devices.

These devices are wonderful for the active elderly and lone workers. They not only provide the SOS and 2 way speech functions, but in addition have the ability to pinpoint location, minimising delay in reaching someone in need of help. With in-built falls detection, this device gives peace of mind to friends and family that their loved one has a good level of protection whilst maintaining independence of movement. In addition to this, it is possible to set a ‘geo-fence’ to alert careers when the user exceeds a certain distance from home, perfect for those who tend to wander and get lost.

The Key Safe

For security and peace of mind, the majority of Helpline customers have a Key safe. This is a small safe that holds Police Preferred Specification.
Helpline installers have been trained in the correct installation of the Police approved Key Safes.
Attached to the outside of your property, the Key Safe holds keys to your door securely inside and has a weatherproof covering.
If your key holders were unavailable, or you do not have key holders, the key safe will allow us to get the emergency services in to your property as fast as possible. The Key safe never goes on holiday!
Only Helpline and yourself know the combination to open the Key Safe and we will not give this to anybody except the emergency services to gain entry to your property. Helpline will instruct the emergency services as to the Key safe’s location and the keys held inside.

If you are unsure which of our personal alarm systems is best suited to you or a loved one.

Our expert team of regional demonstrators will be able to assess your needs and show you all of the latest equipment so that we can help you make an informed decision.

You can try on each different elderly alarm and see whether you feel more comfortable with a neck cord or wrist strap. The demonstrator will show you how to use all of the equipment and explain what options are available. If you have any questions about the service they will be able to give you the answer. Common questions include the range of the pendant and “how do I test if it is working?” (a quick press of the button, followed by informing the response centre that you are testing).

Once you have made your choice, our demonstrator can handle the complete installation process for you. They will assess the best location for the base unit, if one is required, and install it safely and securely. We also handle all of the paperwork at the installation so there are no complicated or confusing forms for you to fill out.

We aim to make the process as easy as possible for you and your family.
